“If you like online slots that stereotype, Rainbow Riches Win Big Shindig is (‘to be’) sure to hit the spot.”
Imagine, if you will. A sleepy Irish glen, a lucky leprechaun, clad in a green jacket with an emerald hat, sitting on a rock at the end of a rainbow. In his tiny hands, a pot – filled with gold coins. He’s a jolly chap. Perhaps he’s playing his fiddle (or rainbow riches) as he nods at every passerby and greets them with a cheery ‘top o’ the morning’.
This is the achingly cutesy painfully stereotypical world of Rainbow Riches Win Big Shindig. A world occupied by three foot high leprechauns, happy to share their riches with fans of online slots themed by the makers of Guinness.
Rainbow Riches is one of the world’s most popular traditional and online slots. You may have spotted the game in the corner of your local pub or on the casino floor. The original online version of the game was an Internet gaming smash. The latest incarnation of the game brings exciting new bonus rounds and even more features to the table. It’s a five reel, 10 payline, slot and – as always – it’s a ‘top craic’ to play.
To Be Sure
Styling… The main icons are the typical A, K, Q, J, and 10. In addition, we have a leprechaun’s hat, and gold coin, and Rainbow Riches logo. I think developers WagerWorks have made a mistake here by dumping the little leprechaun and the wishing well from the original game.
The game’s sounds are standard fodder but I would personally like to throttle whoever it was that decided an endless Irish jig should accompany autoplay. When we review games for WhichSlotMachine, we play them. We often play them and write the feature at the same time. We need to see the bonus rounds so – sometimes – we have to play them for a long time. So, please Mr Developer: SHOOT THE FIDDLER!
The Luck of The…
The standard jackpot is five Rainbow Riches logos on one lie. The gold coin is the wild symbol and substitutes for everything except the Pick Me Bonus symbol – which is a green hat.
Before I played Rainbow Riches Win Big Shindig, I briefly revisited the old Rainbow Riches game which you can still find at several online casinos (be warned: casinos often update and replace games. Catch ‘em while you can). What struck me immediately was how often the bonus round landed on the old game compared to this new version.
That criticism aside, the new game still pays out. Especially as the wild symbols stacks. It’s just that the bonus doesn’t pop up so frequently. Perhaps, they shouldn’t have sacked the leprechaun.
Like an Irish dance, the bonus round is where it all kicks off. Get a hat on reels 1, 3, and 5 and you are then prompted to choose one of three leprechaun hats. The selection will result in either credits or entry into the Pots of Luck Bonus round.
In this round, spinning pots and a dancing leprechaun perform reveal more credits and a multiplier. It’s all good, to be sure, to be sure.
Honestly… I don’t think this Rainbow Riches sequel is as much fun as the original. The bonus round is very elusive. Having said that, stacked wilds keep the wins coming and the gameplay is as sprightly as a little man dancing on a field of four leafed clover. Grab a Guinness and give it a spin!
“I’ve got to say that I also thought the original was more fun. I first discovered this game in my local pub. It used to be as if that corner of the boozer was enjoying an eternal St Patrick’s Day.
I played Rainbow Riches Win Big Shindig for about 20 minutes and wondered why the developers had even bothered to remake the original but i’m sure to be proved wrong by you slots anoraks just let me know if i’m right please”
